{"id":35811,"date":"2023-09-20T15:29:12","date_gmt":"2023-09-20T13:29:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alumni.polimi.it\/?p=35811"},"modified":"2023-09-20T15:29:13","modified_gmt":"2023-09-20T13:29:13","slug":"un-approccio-storyline-per-studiare-eventi-climatici-estremi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alumni.polimi.it\/en\/2023\/09\/20\/un-approccio-storyline-per-studiare-eventi-climatici-estremi\/","title":{"rendered":"A 'storyline' approach to studying extreme climate events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">Politecnico is at the top of the world rankings of universities also thanks to the frontier scientific research it carries out in its laboratories.  <strong>The protagonists of this Italian record are the approximately 3,500 scientists and researchers of Politecnico. <\/strong>Among the hottest topics are obviously those related to the systemic transformation towards climate neutrality; and then, the world of digital, space exploration, life sciences, the movements embraced by the <a href=\"https:\/\/alumni.polimi.it\/en\/2021\/06\/03\/il-politecnico-prima-universita-italiana-partner-per-il-green-deal-europeo\/\" target=\"_self\">New European Bauhaus<\/a>, the new frontiers in the study of matter... In particular, young researchers inject new life into the research system and grow innovative scientific strands. Politecnico invests in activities aimed precisely at encouraging young scientists of excellence to join in. Among many, this year <strong>we welcome twelve new young researchers<\/strong> who are among the best of their generation. They are here at Politecnico di Milano thanks to the Marie Sk\u0142odowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) fellowship programme. Let us introduce them... in alphabetical order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HERN\u00c1N BOBADILLA<\/strong> BOBADILLA is a philosopher of science with a background in geology and transdisciplinary research interests. He tells us: \"There is a relatively new approach in the study of extreme climate events, known as <em>the storyline approach<\/em>. It can lead to relevant insights into extreme climate events under conditions of profound uncertainty. It is intended as a complement to traditional methodologies, but often meets with significant resistance among scientists\u201d.
